Sweet Designers: A Lee + Vee Lee
Sometimes a girl just wants a crisp, classy button-down. And by crisp and
classy I mean no ruffles, no pintucks, no cleavage, no awkward bustline stretching. Which is pretty hard to come by in the realm of women’s blouses – until now.
Apparently I’m not the only one who’s a little frustrated by the amount of overwrought clothing that seems to scream “Subtlety? Tailoring? That’s only for men!”. After years of drooling over menswear, sisters A and Vee Lee decided to create a line of menswear for women, fittingly enough called Androgynous Fashion. Not menswear-inspired womenswear, this is literally menswear cut to fit women. Fresh? Yes. Unique? Yes. Crisp, elegant, classy? Definitely yes.
The sisters’ tagline is “it takes bravery to be genuine”, and major props to them for proving once and for all that an outfit doesn’t need to be bodycon to be beautiful. Exquisite tailoring, innovative design and exciting color combinations – Androgynous clothes will get you noticed for your style, not your hip-to-waist ratio. Which, if you ask me, is a great thing.
What is the mission of Androgynous Fashion?
Come as you are. Celebrate the very thing that makes you different from the rest of the world. We aim to be the place for all things androgynous so if anyone has any suggestions, feel free to let us know.

Describe your aesthetic in a few words.
Making complexity as clean as possible.
What inspired you to create the line?
Many years of frustration at the department stores. Current clothing lines just don’t understand what androgynous women want. It took about two years of researching and experimentation before we created the debut collection. Many late night hours!
What makes the line unique?
“Menswear” for women. Not altered to be feminine in any way.
What inspires you?
People, nature and their cycles of life.
What are your plans for the future?
To be the place for androgynous women.
